The course comprises of three Stages:
Stage 1: A classroom session where students are made aware of the KAUST Traffic and Vehicle Safety Policy, vehicle safety and driver awareness.
Stage 2: An initial eye test followed by a practical driving test around SAFAA car park. The examiner will look at road position, negotiating junctions, parking both forwards and in reverse for golf cart and slow maneuverability for scooters.
Stage 3: A driving test on KAUST’s main road network. The examiner will look at all the same elements as Stage 2 and assess how the student applies them to the main road
Residents of KAUST which includes; Staff, students, dependents, family sponsored housekeepers/nannies. (Note that this permit is no longer available to contractors and service providers)

Yes, however, if you submit your license to HSE, you may be exempt from the golf cart Stage 2 and Stage 3 described below.

There is only one classroom Stage 1 which covers both vehicles. Stage 2 and 3 for a golf cart are slightly different than for a scooter. ,it is slightly different.
If you like to take a medical test for your driving license, KAUST Health has an external clinic that offers the tests (blood and vision) for a car driving license. This clinic is available every Tuesday around noon; they are in the Radiology Department at KAUST Health and accept walk-in clients. They start with the Iqama tests (for new residents), then do the driving tests. You can visit them around 12:30 pm and expect some waiting time (depending on the load of the Iqama test clients).
