Health & Safety Online training programs are currently available to persons with a KAUST email. However as the program name suggests, we anticipate making the training program available to the KAUST Community at large in the near future.


The courses are available in SALUTE under the Health and Safety Trainings catalog. They are quite interactive with presentations, videos and quizzes. Participants will be able to print their own certificates on successful completion of each course.​

The objective of this training program is to convey the various key aspects of the KAUST road safety program and how road users of KAUST can contribute to Keeping KAUST Safe on our roads.

KAUST Driving Permit

Anyone with a KSA driving license qualifies to operate a golf cart or scooter in KAUST. Additionally, Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE) will provide driving permits for scooters and golf carts to our residents over 17 years old who do not have a KSA driving license.

Office Ergonomics Awareness Training

Office Ergonomics Awareness Training

This training is to introduce you to the basic principles of office ergonomics and to provide you with the knowledge to identify and find solutions to the most common ergonomic issues. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the early signs of discomfort that can arise from being a frequent computer user (even at home!)
  • Learn the factors responsible for such discomfort and how to correct them

Working in Hot Climates: Heat Illness Prevention

Prevention of heat illness is important particularly during summer months when ambient temperatures are commonly above 40˚C with high humidity levels. Heat stress causes fatigue and impairs mental and physical performance, which can compromise safety and can even be fatal.
Upon completion of this course, Participants will be able to:

  • Understand heat-related disorders.
  • Recognize the early signs of heat illness conditions.
  • Learn the factors responsible for heat illness and how to prevent them.
  • Know how to protect yourself and your family.
  • Take preventative steps during The Holy Month of Ramadan.
  • Know why Ultraviolet Safety is important in the prevention of heat illness conditions.

Food Safety Awareness Training​

Food Safety Awareness Training​

Everyday, many people from around the world suffer from food poisoning. Many of these people become very sick, food poisoning can even be fatal. The people most at risk include the very young, the elderly, people who are already ill and pregnant women.
This training provides Participants with information on why food safety is important, and covers topics such as:

  • Food Hygiene
  • Food Poisoning
  • Food Hazards
  • Food Hazards and Controls
  • The Importance of Personal Health and Hygiene
  • Safe Handling and Storage of Food
  • Preventing Cross Contamination

Pest Control Awareness

Prevention of heat illness is important particularly during summer months when ambient temperatures are commonly above 40˚C with high humidity levels. Heat stress cWe want a Community that is safe and healthy to live and work in. Public health officials attribute the quality of life we have today to three things: better pharmaceuticals and vaccines, better sanitation and better pest control.
KAUST Pest Control Department provides pest control services to the whole Community, and this includes the control of and eradication of pests by carrying out an integrated Pest Management Program. As individuals, our behaviors make a difference, and everyone's support is necessary to keep our community pest free. This training provides information on:

  • KAUST Pest Control Services
  • Examples of some common pests and key facts
  • Prevention and Control measures
  • A Cautionary Note When Using Pesticides

  • Understand when to call 911, or 959, or when to use Report It
  • Understand how incidents are supposed to get reported

Mold Awareness Training​

The goal of this training is to inform the KAUST Community about the conditions that are favorable for mold growth and what can be done to rectify them.
This training provides Participants with information on:

  • What mold is, and why and how mold forms in buildings.
  • Common mold-myths.
  • Common causes of water intrusion, prevention practices and how to respond to water intrusion issues.
  • The mold investigation and remediation process in KAUST.
  • How to report and respond to water losses and mold issues when they occur
