The Radiation Safety at KAUST is dedicated to facilitating research at KAUST through a comprehensive radiation safety program which promotes the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors. KAUST is authorized by the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC), the competent body in Saudi Arabia to acquire, possess, and use radioactive materials and radiation producing equipment for education and research. KAUST University’s Institutional Radiation Safety Committee (IRSC) authorizes and oversees all possession and use of radiation at KAUST in accordance with NRRC regulations and University Radiation Safety Program policies and procedures. The Radiation Safety Officer assists the IRSC and radiation users by providing consultations, evaluations, and inspections which reduce or eliminate conditions which may lead to injury or loss of university radiation license.
